Sweet and Sour Onions


  • 3 red onions
  • 2 tbsp wholegrain mustard
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp oil


Peel onions, keeping ends in tact.  Cut into eighths a place in small casserole dish.

Combine mustard, honey, red wine vinegar and oil.  Brush mixture over onions, cover and bake 20 minutes in a preheated 220 degree Celsius oven (425 degrees F).

Remove cover and bake an additional 15 – 20 minutes, until soft.

These onions were delicious warm and equally delightful served cold with salad the next day.

Paprikas Csirke (Chicken Paprika) and Spaghetti Squash


  • 1 med onion, chopped
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper,chopped
  • 4 lbs chicken, cubed
  • 1 tbsp smoke paprika
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2c water
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 pint sour cream


Brown onion in oil. Add tomato, bell pepper and chicken pieces. Stir and brown the chicken.

Add seasonings and a little water. Cover and simmer until tender.

Mix flour with sour cream until smooth.  Stir into chicken mixture.

Bring to boil.  Reduce to simmer.

Serve with your favourite – dumplings, rice, or spaghetti squash.
