delicious treats for movie night

Fig Tapenade

  • 1c dried figs
  • ½c water
  • 1c kalamata olives
  • 1tbsp olive oil
  • ½tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1tbsp fresh thyme, chopped

Pulse figs in food processor for 30 seconds, until well chopped.  Add water and pulse to create a paste.  Add olives, pulse until well mixed.

Add olive oil, vinegar and thyme.  Pulse again until tapenade is smooth.

This would be good with crushed walnuts, which I did not have on hand, sprinkled on top.

I served up the tapenade in cucumber halves, sprinkled with crushed macadamia nuts along with celery and rosemary goat cheese, celery and almond butter and some lime and black pepper sprinkled avocado.  The food was by and far better than the show.

The movie we watched was a documentary which originally aired on the History Channel entitled Life After People. Is was rather boring, repetitive, not terribly enlightening and just left us wondering “why bother?”  The evening was saved by the good food and cozy company.
